It's a bit of a grey and bleak day out there so I thought I would blog some lovely pictures from a shoot in our local lavender fields on a glorious summer evening. These are taken at Castle Farm and the shoots take place in the evenings, you get the whole field to yourself for your shoot. Its a lovely way to spend an evening and it's very easy to social distance.
These two beautiful girls, Charlotte and Ellie have been coming to me for years. They are very local to the fields so these are extra special pictures for their family.
Looking forward to doing loads of shoots there over the summer.
If you are interested in a shoot in the lavender then register your interest and I will get in touch when I open up my slots for 2021.
I know that for many of you out there knowing that studios are closed and that you cannot bring your babies in for their newborn shoots in the first 2-3 weeks is very upsetting: it is for me too! I thought I would do a little post to reassure you that I can get gorgeous pictures of your babies at all ages. This gorgeous little Ayla was 7 weeks and came to me after the first lockdown. I love the images we got from her shoot.
Babies are unpredictable and we never know the shoots are going to go even when we bring them at the ‘ideal’ time. Some shoots are super easy, some are a little more challenging and some are really hard but most go really well. No day is ever the same in the studio!
I guess what I would want to know, if I was in your position, is how my photographer handles tricky shoots. I am a professional and I have been doing my job for over 20 years so even on really tough shoots I generally get some great shots. If I feel we can get better shots because the baby is tired /teething or needs more time to adjust to an environment, I will always suggest a reshoot, and more often than not, there is no charge for this. If I feel that we have their age/stage working against us I will often do that shoot and recommend doing another shoot at a better stage, which I will often do as a complimentary shoot.
I will try to give you and your baby the best shot and at getting the pictures that we can. I work with the same clients for years and years andI love watching the children grow and and watching their development….I want you to come back!
It is a blessing for me to be able to meet babies as newborns and then see them as they grow up and watch the family grow. This yummy mummy and and her gorgeous family came to me last year and we got some cracking shots.
The colour palette and shots that the family chose were neutral, tasetful and simple which gives a timeless feel to the images captured. I look forward to seeing these gorgeous girls again in the future.
Happy New Year!
Oh my word, 2020 was the craziest year ever and so much has changed in such a short time. Last year this time Covid was hardly a blip on the horizon and today we are back in lockdown with my little studio once again closed, something inconceivable a year ago. I do hope that there is an end to this madness as I truly miss 'my' babies and the wonderful clients my business seems to attract.
In May 2012 this family travelled from London with their first daughter Nomsa for her newborn portraits, they returned in 2014 with their second daughter Thandi; then again in 2018 with Loreto; and then came in December with another beautiful daughter Ayanda.
I cannot tell you how excited I get on the morning of shoots of my returning clients as I LOVE seeing how big the little ones have got and look forward to catching up with their parents. I am exceedingly lucky that my clients return again and again and it really is an honour to have the opportunity to capture these special times for their families.
I will try to blog more often!
I was once again blessed to have this fabulous family return not only for Lily's newborn portraits but also for a Christmas shoot and her first year cake smash photographs.
You can see from the photographs that she, like her brother Dontae had a great time at her cake smash and we got some wonderful results.
I look forward to seeing them again before Christmas.
Amira, Zahara's big sister came to me for her newborn and 1st year birthday cake smash shoot and I was delighted to see what a lovely, kind, sweet and gorgeous big sister she had become.
Here are a few images from their shoot.
I initially shot little Luca in 2017 for his newborn shots and he returned for his cake smash last year. (I know, I keep apologising but my studio is very busy and blogging and Instagram take time).
I love his shots so much, such a happy little chappie and he just had so much fun!
A Happy if belated New Year to you all! 2018 was one of the busiest years I have had, with so many gorgeous babies and lovely families visiting me at my studio in Orpington.
Thank you all for choosing me: it’s a great honour and gift that you invited me to to take part in your family’s memory-keeping. I take this responsibility very seriously.
The downside of a very busy studio is that blogging and social media are neglected as shooting and delivering a high standard of work in a timely manner is always more important.
I thought however I would blog this gorgeous baby Harry and his little friend Alfie, who are both super cute. This was clearly shot before Christmas and these, which were some of the more festive images, formed part of a very sweet little Christmas card.
I will try, this year, to give more time to blogging as it would be lovely to share more of the sweet little souls who come through the studio.
Let’s hope 2019 is a great one for all of us!
It has been an age since I last blogged. Not only was it a glorious Summer but it was also a very busy one and once again the studio has been busier than anticipated, leaving little time for blogging and social media.
I wanted to blog this handsome little man, Henry. did his sitting shoot on the day of the royal wedding and he was as good as gold. I could not resist popping a few of these on the blog as I love his cute little outfit and all his delightful expressions.
In May 2012 this family travelled from London with their first daughter Nomsa for her newborn portraits, they returned in 2014 with their second daughter Thandi and then again last year with the latest addition to the family, Loreto. We have had amazing shoots each time and the girls have slept beautifully and we again got gorgeous photographs.
Its a really big honour to be chosen to record these special memories with a family and to get to watch their family grow.
This gorgeous family first came to be when Dontae was still in his mummies belly and we got some great maternity portraits of this special time. I got to meet him for his newborn portraits and he was a super star. I was so excited to do his cake smash and celebrate this milestone with them and we managed to capture the special connection this family have, I am really looking forward to meeting his little brother or sister in the next few months. It really is an honour to be chosen to capture these special times with a family.
This gorgeous family came to several years ago when their daughter Pavan was a month old and we had such an enjoyable shoot.
I was delighted that they chose to return with the latest addition to the family, the gorgeous little Daaya. Not only is the family fabulously good looking but they are super talented too, with their mum doing professional make up and their dad a wedding photographer.
Our shoot was so much fun and we had so many gorgeous photographs to choose from, I do hope I see them again in the future.
I last saw this lovely family in 2013 when Ayla was a little newborn baby. At that shoot we did a shot of Ayla on her brother Kayhan's back and produced a large framed B&W print, we replicated that shot with their new brother Ayham so they can sit side by side on the walls of their home. I really enjoy it when families create images that show the growth of their families and of the children. I am so honoured they chose me again to capture these important memories.
Oh my goodness, this little guy is so stylish and well dressed. His mum loves a monochrome palette and his cake smash reflected this.
I had met Tiernan and his lovely family a year before as they came for a newborn shoot with me . I was really pleased they chose to travel from London to come back for his cake smash; as you can see he had a blast and especially loved the tub!
I was lucky enough to photograph this awesome little lass, Amira when she was a newborn and was delighted when her folks returned to the studio for a cake smash on her 1st birthday.
She looked like a little princess and loved her shoot. I think these are a great way to mark this important milestone and celebrate surviving the 1st year!
