Newborn photography sessions are a truly special way to capture your baby in those first precious days, while they're still tiny, sleepy and beautifully curled. The ideal time for a newborn photoshoot is within the first 14 days, and sessions take place in my warm, fully equipped newborn photography studio in Orpington, Kent. I regularly welcome families from Bromley, Sevenoaks and across Kent and South East London.
With over 30 years of professional photography experience and having photographed thousands of babies, I'm one of the most established newborn photographers in the area. Your baby's safety and comfort are always my top priority, and I take a calm, gentle, baby-led approach throughout.
Most of the families I photograph become regulars — some I've been photographing for as long as 15 years, from their very first maternity shoot, through newborn, cake smash, and on to their next baby's arrival. Many attend my studio every year, either for updated family portraits or for my annual Christmas shoots. There's nothing I love more than being trusted with a family's story as it continues to grow.
Using soft, natural posing, carefully curated fabrics and props, and a range of lighting styles — from light and airy to more artistic and softly dramatic — I create timeless newborn portraits that keep the focus on your baby.
Sessions are relaxed and unhurried, typically lasting 2–4 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, cuddling and settling. Many families choose me for my calm approach and years of experience handling and safely posing newborn babies.
These days go by so fast and tend to blend into one, but the day of your newborn shoot will be something you never forget. It's such a special experience — you get to drink tea, eat biscuits, and watch your baby settle into the most beautiful sets, chosen by you. Session Info
Sessions are relaxed and unhurried, typically lasting 2–4 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, cuddling and settling.
Many families choose me for my calm approach and years of experience handling and safely posing newborn babies, and for the simple, timeless images that I produce.
These sessions should be booked as early as possible after your 20-week scan — this secures your place and helps me manage the diary. The main advantage of booking early is that we're already in contact in the run-up to your baby arriving, so once they're here, you simply let me know and we'll book in a date towards the end of that first two weeks — leaving plenty of time for you to enjoy some time at home adjusting, and seeing family and friends first. It's not something you need to think about — it's all arranged. And if your partner only has two weeks of paternity leave, we'll make sure it's done within that time.
If your baby is due fairly soon, or already here, do feel free to call me as I may still be able to fit you in. Generally these shoots take place in the first 14 days, while babies are still curled up and sleepy, and partners are often on paternity leave. I tend to hold older children's, family and maternity shoots on weekends, as they're shorter and I can fit in multiple sessions in a day — but with newborns, I like to keep things flexible, so these are done during the week. I do book up well in advance, so to avoid disappointment, it's best to get in touch as early as possible.

The sweet spot is usually 7–14 days old. At this age babies are still lovely and sleepy and "pliable," which makes those tiny curled-up poses so much easier to capture — and colic and baby acne haven't usually set in yet either.
On a practical note, most dads are still on paternity leave at this stage, so we can do the shoot while they're around to enjoy and be involved.
A lot of mums are also a little concerned about coming so soon after a C-section — just let me know in advance and we can talk it through together. That said, every baby is different, so don't worry if you're outside that window — we'll work with whatever stage your little one is at.

As early as possible — ideally once you're through your 20-week scan. Booking early helps secure your place in the diary and gives us plenty of time to plan styling together. It means it's done, and you can relax and forget about it, knowing it will happen within the first 14 days.

Please don't worry about this at all. I've been working from this studio for 16 years and photographed hundreds, if not thousands, of babies in that time — there's not much I haven't seen or experienced! I know how to work gently with an awake or unsettled baby, so just relax and trust the process.

Great question, and one I totally relate to. When you attend this session, you may not be feeling your best — you may be tired, a little overwhelmed, and may not have gone back to the shape you were before pregnancy. Please don't worry about this. When your children are grown and look back at these photographs, I promise they won't be making judgements about you — they'll just love seeing you all together.
If you'd like some light retouching done, that's an option we can discuss. This is such a special time, and I'll do what I can to produce images that flatter you, and ones that you truly love.
