Shoot Information

Catch the moment put it in your heart,
the years too soon will fly.
these are precious moments,
more than money can buy

1. General Information

shoot-info-1Shoots are available on select weekdays, Saturdays and the occasional Sunday depending on my schedule.

Your ideas are important to me, so feel free to ring me before coming to a shoot if you want to chat about your ideas or discuss what clothing to bring. I value input from parents and love it when they arrive on location or at the studio with armfuls of clothes, toys, props and brimming with ideas.

All shoot costs will include my time, my talent, post production work and either an ordering appointment or an online gallery. I am available throughout the process to help with your selection.

2. Maternity Sessions

£60.00 Session Fee – 1 – 1.5 hours

A maternity session is about the miracle of sharing your body with your baby and about capturing the beauty of your belly. The best time to do this shoot is between 32 and 36 weeks, although it can be done at any stage you choose.

You can come to this shoot with your partner, with your child/ children or you can bring a girlfriend or your mum. I really don’t mind who you bring, as long as you feel confident and comfortable with them.

We can also discuss the type of shots you want and you can show as little or as much of the bump as you like. I have loads of fabrics and ideas to ensure you get the look you are after. Please don’t worry if you have stretchmarks or the odd blemish, we can airbrush those out in the post production process.

I wish I had gone to a really good female studio photographer when I was pregnant, I would cherish those images now.

3. Newborn Sessions

£95.00 Session Fee – 2 – 4 hours

shoot-info-3These sessions are some of my favourite. I love newborns’ little tummies, wispy hair and tiny toes and fingers. The best time to do these photographs is when your baby is 5 – 8 days old. This is because they are still quite ‘pliable’, they generally sleep a lot, and colic and baby acne have not yet set in.

I try to be a little more ‘flexible’ with the dates of these shoots as things don’t always go according ‘to plan’. I generally book them for 5 – 8 days after your due date and change them if necessary.

These sessions are generally a little longer as we have to work at your newborn’s pace. They average between 3 – 4 hours. We need to allow time for feeding, changing and cuddling. New parents can also be tired and a bit sore so I don’t want to rush things.

These sessions should be booked as early as possible after your 20 week scan, this will ensure your booking and assist me in managing the diary.  If however your baby is due fairly soon or already born feel free to call me, I may be able to fit you in.  In order to offer my clients the best service possible and because I shoot a lot of newborns and it can be ‘unpredictable’,  with me having to move things around a little each week; I only allow limited number of sessions per week.  To avoid dissapointment it is best to book as early as possible.

4. Studio Baby / Children /Family Session

£60.00 Session Fee – 1 – 1.5 hours

shoot-info-2These vary from 1 – 1½ hours and take place in either Stamford Brook or Bromley.

I am a mother myself and have been photographing children for over 10 years, I therefore try to book sessions with naps and feeding times in mind to ensure that your children are at their best.

I endeavour to make all shoots light-hearted and fun with a bit of gentle direction. Each session is different and has a unique dynamic, that flows naturally between you and your family. With some children one can expect to make silly noises, tell jokes, dance, jump around, clap hands, play peek-aboo and generally have a ‘bouncy’ fun time, while others may want to sit, talk quietly or play with toys while my camera observes them from afar.

5. Lifestyle Sessions

These sessions are about capturing your child/children at play in your/their favourite place. They are on location and generally using natural light. They can be in your home, a park, a field or suitable location of your choice. I really encourage parents to think outside the box. The more funky the location the better! I love grungy alleys, doors with peeling paint and other interesting locations and textures. We can also take props along as they may enhance the look by creating a specific theme for the shoot.

6. The Photographic Art/ Prints

photo-printA number of options for photographic art are available to suit your family’s preferences, your walls or your pocket. A range of sizes are available in framed prints, canvases, acrylic and albums, prices start at £40.00 for a framed 6×8 print, options are outlined on request and in your ordering appointment.

Cards & postcards are available in a number of different designs and colours. These can be sent on as birth announcements, thank you cards or  sent on special occasions such as Christenings, Easter and at Christmas.

£50.00 for the first 30 cards and £1.00 per card for additional cards (must be ordered in batches of 5)

I work to create a beautifully finished artwork that will decorate your home and that you will treasure for a lifetime.

7. Frequently Asked Questions:

What should we wear and what shall I bring?

As soon as you have booked a session I will send you information on what works best for the type of shoot you are having and give you some general advice on the types of things to bring to your shoot.

What are the best ages for child photography?

All ages are great!!!

If I was to have another baby, these are the stages that I would not miss:

  • I would definitely have a maternity shoot and a newborn shoot.
  • I would have a ‘mini session’ (20 – 30 minutes) at around 4 months old
  • A full session when he/she is sitting but not yet crawling. Generally a good time to book this shoot is when your baby has started to sit but is still fairly ‘scrunched’ up. We schedule the shoot for a month later by this time they should be sitting up beautifully.
  • A ‘mini session’ or very near his/her first birthday. These staggered shoots would enable you to create a stunning first year album. After that I would have a shoot every 6 – 18 months. You may want to repeat all the stages if you decide to increase the size of your family.

Does the client get the ‘negatives’?

I have a few packages that include a number of low resolution digital images, but generally I do not give or sell the digital negatives. Please understand that taking the images is only part of the process in creating the art that will eventually hang on your walls. Not only do I enhance the images by removing spots and other blemishes, tweaking colours and using other post-production techniques, but I have spent years sourcing good labs and getting them to print the types of prints that I believe are acceptable for my clients.

Where do the shoots take place?

For maternity, newborn babies and smaller children, the quiet peacefulness of the studio produces, in my eyes, the best images. I like the controlled light, low noise, and a heat-controlled environment. As the UK weather can be a little unpredictable (that was diplomatic!) and can be really cold and wet it is often more pleasant to be in the studio. I do, however, love wellies, umbrellas, macs etc and we can still enjoy playing outside. I am very flexible and happy to use your home or natural light location for these shoots if you wish.
